During the course of the year, days fly by so very quickly. Welcoming people into our homes is a genuine expression of appreciation and warmth. I truly enjoy the opportunity to spend time with my team who day after day, throughout the year are dedicated to their jobs, and always give more than is required. I so appreciate the work ethics and passions of "the village".

While the holidays are customarily red and green, somehow I manage to navigate my palette and still be part of the tradition. I have been collecting pink Santa's for years. Some are a little worse for wear, but non the less I love them.
This week I took myself to the downtown Los Angeles Flower Market. I love love to go.

Buying flowers by the bulk fills my stomach with butterflies. Knowing I have all the stages of beauty ahead of me. From the modest bud, to the flamboyant blossoms, and then the wilting rose. Hmmmmmm

I so enjoyed making little floral moments for the party.

Spray painting branches and leaves are such a lovely way to bring bling to a celebration..... and then adding a moodier palette by way of violet anemones creates the tapestry of my aesthetics.
As I am playing with my best friends (flowers) for my party display, I ponder on all the different ways flowers can be applied and enjoyed... WHO NEEDS DIAMONDS?

And to end the evening I bought a little rose plant, for all to take home.....and hopefully blossom and grow in the way we will as a village.

I so appreciated having the opportunity to have such a team in my life, truly, because it does take a village.

Happy holidays to you all.....may you all have a very pink and flowery season. And thank you to all who find the time to pop by and read my rambling thoughts.
Love, Rachel

I did want to share with you that I bought hundreds of your fabric samples on an ebay auction from your original SOHO store, complete with hand written clothespins!! I was so thrilled, I turned some of them into a display piece and I am offering others the chance to have some for their own at my blog giveawayhttp://maisondecor8.blogspot.com/2011/12/shabby-chic-soho-store-samples-are-mine.html

ReplyDeleteLovely Idea
To new beginnings! I'm happy to see Shabby Chic again and to read your honest and personal posts. I'll be back.
ReplyDeleteAm desperately looking for your white denim fabric to recover my Shabby Chic loveseat with 5 cusions, oversized chair and ottomon. I love these items that I purchased 20 years ago at your first San Francisco store on Sacramento Street. They started in my San Francisco Edwardian home, went to my country french cottage in the wine country of St. Helena, CA and are now happily resting in my quintessential Maine oceanfront cottage looking out to sea. I now live in Paris, France...a designer's dream, but I still go to Maine a few times a year and plop into my Shabby Chic furniture....always comfortable and I find inspiration as I look out to the ocean....thank you....now where can I get the fabric..??.time for just a small "lifting".

You have a lovely home.

Hello, I am desperately trying to find 4 window panels from your simply shabby chic collection in the lady rose. I bought 6 panels 2 years ago from target but they are no longer available. The target company gave me a number to the main distributor however I have not heard anything from them as of yet. We are moving to a new home and I love the curtains my daughter has to match the bedside of lady rose and accessories. I need more curtains due to the added windows. Any recommendations for me? Do you know if there are any more of the lady rose selection they are so stunning!! Erin
ReplyDeleteRachel, thank you from my heart for inspiring me to fulfill my dreams and live the life I was meant to live. Happy New Year! Annie
ReplyDeleteRachel, from the first time I saw your linens while working at The Villa in Hot Springs, AR, I have been hooked. Now I live outside Nashville and my husband pastors a very small congregation but I love them and try to have the widow ladies in for tea often. My husband of 40 yrs. this summer, says we can build a house and it would be less expensive than to rent. I wish you were here to help me with "dressing" my house to make it seem so cozy, lovely and at home as yours. I simply adore your style. I still look for your brand (mostly at goodwill if I can find it). I wish you the best of luck and appreciate your lovely things. You have made a difference in how I view things. Blessings, TeelaYoung at hotmail dot com
